Getting to grips with the Cheetah3D interface.

An introduction to working with the Cheetah3D interface.

Cheetah3D Interface

1. Main Window/Viewing Pane

The Main Window shows a basic version of the 3D scene you are creating, you can select multi or single viewpoint to navigate your scene. The Main Window is always viewed from the current camera.

2. Cheetah3D Toolbar

The toolbar gives you access to the select, transform and measure tools. It also lets you select from the 4 modes (point mode, edge mode, polygon mode and object mode). There are also a number of dropdown menus used for creating objects, splines, creators, modifiers, scene objects and tags. Finally, the icons situated on the right hand side of the toolbar are for rendering and animating.

3. Properties Editor

The properties pane is where you control all the details for the currently selected object. From simple properties such as position, rotation and scale to much more detailed properties such as texture maps, bump maps and a lot more.

4. Tool Pane

Here you can see and set additional options for the current tool.

5. Object Browser

The object browser shows all the objects in your scene in a hierarchical list. This can be very handy for selecting objects in more complicated scenes where numerous objects are being used. The object browser also shows more detailed information on objects, such as applied textures, modifiers and tags.

6. Materials Pane

The materials pane shows all the materials you have created for your current scene. Simply drag and drop your created materials onto your objects in either the main window or the object browser.
